God With Us: Person (Part 3 of 4)

Is Christ’s birth truly the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14? The prophecy states that the baby born to a virgin will be called, “Immanuel,” but in the fulfillment of the prophecy in Matthew 1:21-23, the angel tells Mary to name the baby, “Jesus.” How do we reconcile these two names? In this sermon, Brother Holloway examines the person of Jesus. He explains that as a just judge, enthusiastic evangelist, serious savior, unifying usher, and seasoned shepherd, Jesus is Immanuel. Though seemingly distant from us, He is always present and is, in fact, God with us.

Matthew 1:21-23 (ESV): She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”
(which means, God with us).
