Self Deceptions of the False Teacher

Brother Shannon Pfleiderer delivers a message about the destructiveness, depravity, and doom of false teachers.

2 Peter 2:18-22 (ESV): For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”

Rebukes from the Rich

A look at three rich men in Scripture: 1 – the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-22), 2 – the rich fool (Luke 12:16-21), and 3 – the rich man with Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). What would they have to say to us? Would they praise us or rebuke us?

Jeremiah 9:23-24 (ESV): Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
